Description
This is an undergraduate 3rd year (final year) BA History essay. It 3,000 words in total including footnotes. Title and bibliography are excluded in the word count. Referencing style is MHRA. Although this question is asking you to focus on the 17 and 18th century, i spoke to my tutor and he said ‘it is ok if your essay goes a little into the early 19th century, since that is still discussing the consequences of the growth of the 17th and 18th centuries. Just make sure the essay covers the 17th century as well. Ali Pasha of Janina is a fine example since he rose to power in the late 18th century. Mehmed Ali is not suitable as he did not take power in Egypt until 1805, after the eriod specified by the question. This assignment is wrth 70% of module grade, lease endure i receive a first class mark that is 70 % and over. It is important that the essay focuses on the 17th and 18th cnetury. Provincial elites are also called ayan in ottoman Turkish. Please pay attention to attached material, the word document has a section called seminar- there we discussed this issue in brief. The growing power of provincial elites is also linked to decentralisation in the ottoman empire. ‘in the 17th and 18th centuries, there was a further change towards a more decentralized structure of governance, which involved the rise of provincial elites known as a’yan (notables), some of whom became very powerful provincial magnates. This has been one of the most vigorously debated topics in Ottoman historiography.’ The powetpoint i have attached is from my tutor, only the last few slides are relevant. Number of sources up to you, as much you think that would make a first class essay. please do not use too many fancy words, as that will attract attention. they need to think its my work
