| Context for the task:
The prescribed text for this unit is William Shakespeare’s play, Othello. Students have been exploring the powerful role of stories and storytelling as a feature of narrative. They have been deepening their understanding of how narratives shape meaning and influence the way individuals and communities understand and represent their ideas, values and attitudes in different contexts. Students investigate how an author’s use of textual structures, language and stylistic features are crafted for particular purposes, audiences and effects.
Question: For this task, you are to compose a 7-minute (no more) multimodal response to the following question: An awareness of context is essential to understanding how narratives shape meaning. To what extent does this statement resonate with your interpretation of Shakespeare’s Othello? In your response, make detailed reference to the play. Multimodal Presentation guidelines: · Create a text that incorporates a combination of modes; spoken, visual, written and sound. · The spoken component must include a voiceover of your response with various visuals and written texts presented. · Make close reference to your prescribed text, Othello. Checkpoint guideline: Provide a completed written transcript of your response to the stimulus question. |

All work must be in your own words otherwise it will be classed as plagiarism and will result in a mark of zero and a resubmission of the task will be required. Late Submission Policy: If you are sick on the day, you must provide a doctor’s certificate the following day you are present at school. You must also get an illness and misadventure form from the office, fill it in and attach the doctor’s certificate to it. You must hand this form, the doctor’s certificate as well as your assessment task the very next day you attend from being off sick. This must be handed directly to your class teacher.
If you have not handed your assessment task in on the due date and you do not have a doctor’s certificate the following day, you will be awarded a mark of zero. A zero mark will also be awarded for: · truancy from a task · cheating · non-attempts. |
