Assignment task – Portfolio: Miami Hotel Market Analysis Assignment 2 requires you to create a portfolio demonstrating how data are understood, processed, analysed, visualised and reported. You are given the data about the Miami hotel market, which are real data provided by STR (Smith Travel Research). You need to cleanse and transform the datasets so they include monthly hotel performance data by class, size, submarket and location between 2000-2021, daily performance data by class between 2010-2021, and the pipeline data. The STR datasets for you to work on will be released in week 6. You also need to search for qualitative data or any other information you think is appropriate for the purpose of the analysis to prepare for the portfolio. You are required to prepare a portfolio to demonstrate how you go through the full data analytics process with the STR datasets and your choice of other data sources. The main body of the portfolio will include the following sections, which are • Section 1: Understanding of the dataset • Section 2: Dataset processing • Section 3: Dataset analysis • Section 4: Dataset visualisation • Section 5: Report Section 1: Understanding of the data (2 pages maximum) 15% Explain the sources of the data, the types of data included in the data and comment on the data source. For the STR dataset, you need to demonstrate your understanding of the dataset, e.g. the type of data, the time frame of the data, the information provided in each dataset etc. and comment on the quality of the dataset. Aside from the dataset provided by STR, you also need to consider other data sources that are appropriate and relevant to the analysis of the Miami hotel market. You need to decide what other data sources to be included in your analysis, justify your choices based on the criteria for selecting data. Section 2: Dataset processing (2 pages maximum) 15% Demonstrate how different methods and techniques are decided and applied to prepare the data ready for analysis, e.g. how the data are cleansed, linked and derived in order to achieve the purpose of the analysis. You need to decide the range of data selected for your analysis, e.g. class, size or location, and justify your choice. You need to demonstrate how the data are cleansed, linked and derived by providing screenshots of the key steps taken and annotating why and how the steps are taken. Section 3: Data analysis (2 pages maximum) 15% Demonstrate how the data are analysed, by explaining the approaches, techniques and models adopted in the analysis, appreciating the alternative options and justifying the appropriateness of the chosen analysis tools. You need to demonstrate the approaches, techniques and models taken in analysing the data by providing the screenshot of the Excel worksheet or Tableau platform and annotating why they are chosen and what alternative options are available. Section 4: Data visualisation (2 pages maximum) 15% Demonstrate the visualisation and discuss how different types of visualisations are decided and applied to present the analysis. You need to present the charts, graphs, or dashboards you create as a result of your analysis. You also need to explain the processes taken in visualising the results and justify why the chosen visualisations, techniques and tools are the most appropriate for the purpose of the analysis. Section 5: Reporting (2 pages maximum) 30% Write the final report. The report needs to explain the purpose of the analysis, the key findings from the analysis supported by the visualisation presented in Section 4, and any recommendations or insights of the Miami hotel market resulting from the analysis. Presentation and references worth 10% marks of this assessment. Other parts to be included in the portfolio but not part of the page count are:  Title page  Contents page  List of figures (if applicable)  List of tables (if applicable)  Executive summary (250 words)  Reference list  Appendices (2 pages maximum)
