The first step in drafting your assignment is to choose a global company to focus on
At the chosen company, identify a case of a global perspective, such as an international pursuit, an expansion on a new market, an M&A, a strategy or model adopted, or any other situation that can show you understand elements related to global management – and it can be either a success or a failure (example: Starbucks failure while expanding in Australia – you can watch the video)
Then, for that particular case identify main issues that have to do with:
- cultural considerations (in Starbucks example: cultural differences between the American and the Australian coffee drinking culture),
- ethical considerations (in Starbucks example: aggressive marketing campaign)
- AND value-based considerations (in Starbucks example: losing money and shutting down tons of stores)
You then start in depth your assignment sections: in the literature review analysing in detail the elements from the theoretical perspective, and in the case study your analysis from the company perspective
Remember: All three elements need to be tackled in both part 2 literature review and part 3 case study: cultural considerations, ethical considerations AND value-based consideration! Remember to focus on what is going on in the minds of the managers/leaders of the business.

BEFORE STARTING THE ASSIGNMENT EXPLORE THE CASE STUDY AND THE ISSUES THEY ENCOUNTER IN REGARDS TO CULTURAL, ETHICAL, AND VALUE BASED CONSIDERATIONS. THIS WILL HELP DRAW UP THE ASSIGNMENT WELL. YOU MAY FIND ISSUES IN THE CASE STUDY THAT ARE HIGHLIED BELOW.
For cultural-based considerations: you can analyse issues related to cultural differences, Cultural Orientations Model, managing global teams and networks, MBI Model, implementing strategies across borders, modes of entering new international markets, choosing the right people for overseas assignments, and any other relevant topic
For ethical-based considerations: you can analyse issues related to personal integrity and corporate integrity (corporate accountability, corporate responsibility and corporate sustainability)
For value-based considerations: you can analyse issues related to value creation, such as Value-Based Management Model, or core values, such as Values-Based Leadership Model
The following structure shall be used:
Part 1. Introduction. Clearly re-state the topic, aim and objectives and outline the structure of the work (150 words)
Your introduction should be brief and outline what you intend to do in the report.
Part 2. Critical literature review about international culture, ethics, and values-based considerations (1200 words)
In this section focus on the three areas in regards to international culture, ethics, and values-based considerations and here introduce some of the issues identified in the case study and explain where they ‘fit in’ under cultural, ethical and values-based considerations. Analyse those issues found in the case study from a theoretical perspective using frameworks and models which I have attached.
- For cultural-based considerations – please use the theoretical models attached under PowerPoint slides weeks 3-6
- For ethical-based considerations – please use the theoretical models attached under PowerPoint slides week 8
- For value-based considerations – please use the theoretical models for attached under PowerPoint slides week 9
You could also use other examples in the literature review to support your writing of other businesses that have failed or succeeded in these particular areas identified in the case study.(THIS WILL GIVE ME HIGHER MARKS)
Use relevant references based on what I have attached as well as materials from your independent study, and beyond.
Be more critical in this section than descriptive and explain the relevance of the theories analysed.
Remember: Part 2 (the literature review) should reflect only theoretical models and part 3 those theoretical aspects applied by your chosen business!
Part 3. A case study about a business of your choice highlighting how the business has/ not benefited from international culture, ethics, and values-based considerations (1000 words)
For this section make links to the issues identified in the literature review under culture, ethics and value based considerations and explore them in greater depth here explaining how the company managed those issues, whether and to which extent it is considered a success or a failure, and what you can learn from this from a global perspective.
Part 4.Using a self-audit, score yourself on a scale of 1-10 using the Global Mind-set Model attached OR YOU CAN SEE THIS BELOW where you identify 3 skills of a global manager that you consider relevant having in mind your future career prospects (I WANT TO GO INTO CONSULTANCY) . Please see below the global mind-set model and the table to use to draw up this section. (THE TABLE CAN BE DESCRIPTIVE AS YOU WISH AS IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WORD COUNT)

Your PDP should reflect an action plan for developing the three global mind-set skills you selected for your self-audit, and should be done in a table provided below. Reflect how you intend to develop as a future successful global manager with a cultivated global mind-set. (THIS CAN BE AS DETALIED AS YOU WANT AS THIS DOES NOT IMPACT WORD COUNT)
FOR THE SPECIFIC ACTIONS BOX- Identify resources which may help your achieve the skills you have selected to develop within : eg: can the learning centre help? Workshops available? Internet? Student services? Careers+ service? Self help reading/ self discovery/exposing yourself to new situations and people/developing an interest in those who aren’t similar to you/making time to talk to people and get to know them
After the two tables are completed explain in a paragraph as to why you want to develop those skills you have chosen, why are they are relevant to you and how do you see yourself developing these skills in becoming a future global manager with a cultivated global mindset and how this module has helped you to develop a global mind-set (500 words)
Part 5. Conclusion (150 words)
The conclusion is what you are going to do in the future ( I want to go into consultancy), how and why these skills chosen are the most relevant for you to develop. Remember no new information should go in this section.
Part 6. List of references (not included in the word count). In-text citations and the list of references should follow Harvard style. A minimum of 15 academic references are required.
