THE CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES OF VIRTUAL MANAGEMENT ON TEAMS AND PRODUCTIVITY

Technological changes over the past decades have led to the rise of new trends, leading to the adoption of a unique leadership style to adapt to adverse changes, especially in the business world. Alfehaid and Mohamed (2019) referred to this unique leadership style due to the new technological trends as a virtual organization (VO). Research by Kohntopp and McCann (2020) suggested that organizations in the current business environment have adopted the use of different information and communication technologies (ICTs) to encourage collaboration among employees, even in situations where they work from diverse geographical locations. In addition to the technological advancements, changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have contributed to the increased dependence of organizations on virtual teams. The virtual teams are responsible for performing multiple tasks and distance projects to achieve a common objective and increase the overall organizational performance (Großer & Baumol, 2017).
