Ethnographic assignment- behavior of customers/consumers in luxury goods stores when deciding on what to purchase and their interaction with the staff/employees of the store when deciding to purchase a good or goods.

For this assignment, it is a bit complicated. We must write an ethnographic research essay on social behavior/interactions in a public place using ethnographic techniques, using qualitative research methods (NOT quantitative). Include the use of different/relevant theories (e.g.- Goffman theories, the grounded theory, etc.)- we need to include at least 3-4 theories. please look at the “guidelines” document for further clarity. Use Goffman theories that apply and check the theories used in the sample essays and apply them to this essay.

This essay requires observations, pictures of the place, vignettes, etc. however I will add in the details like the pictures, layout of store etc. the rest you can just find relevant information from the internet and use common knowledge for the rest/make up the observations, interviews, interactions (you don’t actually have to go there). Please just make it up or use relevant info of what you think the behavior and interactions etc. will be. I will add diagrams, pictures etc.

For my ethnographic research project, I opted to choose the interaction (physical/verbal) as well as behavior of customers/consumers in luxury goods stores when deciding on what to purchase and their interaction with the staff/employees of the store when deciding to purchase a good or goods. Talk more about the behavior, verbal communication, body language of the customers in luxury good stores (do not discriminate and single out people based on physical characteristics etc.). talk about the process of how consumers decide on what to purchase and the process of them being in the store. Please be specific to a particular aspect of the customers behavior, so focus on the way customers make decisions in purchasing items and their behavior and interactions in doing so.
