Goals: The goal of this assignment is to get practice writing using standard scientific conventions. As we’ve discussed, scientific writing is different than narrative writing or other forms of expository writing. Later, we’ll develop strategies for structure and including appropriate content in our Introduction sections.

Instructions: This brief writing assignment will have two elements:

1. An introductory paragraph that introduces your reader to your final paper. This will eventually become the opening paragraph of the Introduction to your final paper, which we’ll complete for Writing #2.

2. At least three entries of an annotated bibliography. This will eventually form the literature review section of the Introduction to your final paper. You may find it helpful to refer to the module on Reading and Interpreting Scientific Literature before attempting this piece.
