A large portion of middle aged adults (defined as ages 40-65 in the psychological sciences) find themselves “sandwiched” as some point in this phase of their lives. Read about the “Sandwich Generation” here —> Pew Research Center Links to an external site. <— and consider the following:

Discuss two burdens the Sandwich Generation faces on a daily basis. 
As the Baby Boomer generation (birth years: 1944-1964) ages and fills less of the “sandwich” (as many of their own parents have already passed away and their children are now grown), what unique challenges or benefits do you predict may impact the growing numbers of Generations Xers (birth years: 1965-1979) and Millenials (birth years: 1980-1997) who occupy this space? 
Take a moment to consider the mental health of this age group. Middle aged adults are diagnosed more so than any other age group with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Share a mental health resource (website, hotline, local facility, etc.) that can offer assistance to those in need.

After reading the graphic novel, They Called Us Enemy, answer the following questions using the same format and guidelines as the VOF writing assignments. Paragraph 1: We all seem to spend a lot of time discussing WWII, but often to not go into as much depth when discussing internment. Discuss the way Japanese internment was taught prior to college (or how it wasn’t). Why do you think the topic is often brushed over? A 38-year-old female was admitted to the emergency room of Goodcare Hospital with symptoms that suggested a gastrointestinal problem. The attending physician performed all the routine tests, and the results were normal. During the time the patient was in the ER, she had uncontrolled diarrhea and grew weaker. The medication given did not help. The patient died, and the autopsy revealed that she was suffering from giardiasis, an intestinal parasitic infection. This infection is not detected by routine parasitic testing. If detected, the infection can be effectively treated with antibiotics. In this case, if the patient had been correctly diagnosed, she would likely have recovered quickly and lived. The attending physician was sued for negligence for failing to diagnose the infection. A jury awarded the woman’s husband $725,000.

The leadership instrument is complex and utilizes several dimensions to assess your current leadership style and skills. The leadership instrument allows you to not only identify your current leadership styles and traits but also consider how you might utilize other skills and traits moving forward. Upon completion of the leadership instrument, please take some time to evaluate your responses and scores considering your current leadership style. Do the scores match your perceived leadership style? In your paper, you should provide a summary of your scores in paragraph form. Then, provide your thoughts on the scores, how you might utilize the identified leadership traits and what changes you might make moving forward.
