Application of Hermeneutical Principles

This week’s application assignment provides an opportunity to practice hermeneutical principles. Organize your paper by numerically answering each question. Make sure that all questions are answered. Note that question number six deals with the process and not your product or analysis of the text. The question wants you to think about the process and how it might be applied in a broader sense within your educational setting.

Analyze and outline the “Flow of Thought” in Philippians 4:10-19.

Paul refers to a past connection between him and the Philippians and to their present concern for him.

Use a Bible dictionary or other reference as needed to briefly describe Paul’s circumstances, and his relationship to the Philippians.

The theoretical framework directions is provided as followed:

My research questions are: RQ1. To what extent conditions or roadblocks do African American women face in obtaining executive director’s positions of a nonprofit organization?

RQ2. What is the nature of the lived experiences that influence African American women to be noticed before attaining an executive director position in a nonprofit organization?

Directions as followed for subtopics:

☐ Critically analyze (i.e., note the strengths and weaknesses) and synthesize (i.e., integrate) the existing research. Rather than reporting on each study independently, describe everything known on the topic by reviewing the entire body of work.

☐ Present a balanced integrative critical review of the literature, ensuring all points of view are included. Cover all the important issues with a discussion of areas of convergence (i.e., agreement) and divergence (i.e., disagreement).

☐ Provide potential explanations for areas of divergence. Address issues of authority, audience, and/or bias/point of view in the sources used.

Discuss Application of a Taxonomy

Bloom’s taxonomy and other models for thinking and learning have been developed to promote thinking and guide instructional goals. Christian Schools have not worked to develop models that reflect a biblical understanding of what it means to know. The Bible refers to knowledge, understanding, discernment, judgment, appraisal, wisdom etc. What levels of knowing can be deduced from your biblical understanding of these words. Can a hierarchy be created? Can this hierarchy provide levels of thinking, understanding, and application that will develop Christian thinkers and scholars? Could this be useful in spiritual formation?

Develop a taxonomy that includes five or more levels of thinking (including what is referred to as higher level thinking). This taxonomy should reflect your biblical understanding that has been developed within this course. Consider beginning with the new Bloom and Understanding by Design’s facets of knowledge. Can these provide a basis once biblically evaluated and integrated?

Recall what you learned from your previous word study related to teaching and learning.

Each of your levels should be defined and reflect an integrated understanding of the level.

A biblical basis for the each level should be provided through a written text with reference.

Each level should also include a set of questions that the student can reflect upon to consider whether the level has been reached.

Consider formatting the taxonomy for use within your school (be creative).

Understanding – Putting together knowledge so that one sees its relevancy or implications for one’s life. Job 32:8 “but it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.”

How do these facts expand, enhance, or modify the information I already have or know?

In what ways are these ideas important? Useful?

Have I sought the Spirit’s guidance in relating this information to me and how I should live?

Managed Care Articles Summary and Position Pape

Locate one positive managed care article and one negative managed care article. Make sure you select articles about managed care delivery, not articles that simply discuss how managed care is becoming more prevalent in Medicaid.

After you have read the articles, think about your health insurance options now or in the future. Would you select a managed care option for your own health insurance? Defend your position in a 1-2 page paper (APA formatted, 12pt font, double-spaced). Make sure you include a title page and a References page for your sources.
