calculations of iAUC and tAUC using trapezoidal method and SPSS

Study about the effects of essential amino acids in glucose metabolism on human.

the total study period was 8 weeks first two weeks was a control measure, all participants received a placebo containing non essential amino acids and a blood glucose level measures was done after the second week (week 0) the spread sheet name ( screening vs week 0) contain the calculations and data analysis of this period.

after week two( week 0) the participants were randomized to two groups , first group is group A and 2nd group was group B.

one of these groups continue taking the placebo, and the other group start taking the supplement that contain the essential amino acid EAA. ( because it a double blind study we don’t know which group took the placebo and which took the EAA ).

every week from week 0 ( second week of the study after randomization) blood glucose were measured and data analysis have been done . excel spread sheet ( group A ) (group B).

Do three scatter plots:

* one for group A (glucose over time for week 0, week 4, and week 8);

* one for group B (also glucose over time for week 0, week 4, and week 8);

* and one including all the participants for glucose over time for the screening and week 0 visits.

recommended three column charts:

one showing glucose tAUC and iAUC for all the participants at screening and week 0;

one showing glucose tAUC by group (A or B) across weeks 0, 4, and 8;

and one showing glucose iAUC by group (A or B) across weeks 0, 4, and 8.

2) For the statistical analysis :

compare screening versus week 0 including all the participants, then compare week 0 vs week 4 vs week 8 by group (A or B).

You should use ANOVA for all analysis that involves repeated measures and/or more than two visits,

and you could use a paired samples t-test for comparing glucose tAUC between screening and week 0 , and for glucose iAUC at screening versus week 0.
