Research and summarize, a minimum of five strategies for teaching adolescent students with deficits in their reading comprehension skills. Identify the conditions under which the chosen strategies are intended to be delivered (e.g., content area, class setting, required resources, if intended for a specific type of disability).

When teaching students to comprehend and summarize text, teachers can use a variety of activities before, during, and after reading to help students understand elements within a plot. Utilizing appropriate strategies that incorporate summarizing skills helps to increase students’ reading comprehension skills.
Use the “Reading Comprehension Template” to complete this assignment.

Part 1: Strategies

Research and summarize, in 250-500 words, a minimum of five strategies for teaching adolescent students with
deficits in their reading comprehension skills. Identify the conditions under which the chosen strategies are
intended to be delivered (e.g., content area, class setting, required resources, if intended for a specific type of
disability).

Support your findings with 2-3 scholarly resources.

Part 2: Activity

Identify a group of 2-3 eighth grade students, using the “Class Profile,” who would benefit from additional instruction
on reading comprehension skills.

Identify a text appropriate to use with the small group identified. You may use Appendix B of the Common Core
English Language Arts Standards to help you determine an appropriate text for the lesson.

Draft a 250-500 word outline summarizing three activities to reinforce reading comprehension and summarizing skills,
utilizing the identified text. Incorporate at least three of the strategies from Part 1 into your activities.

Part 3: Rationale

In 250-500 words, rationalize your instructional decisions in Part 2 of this assignment. Explain how the identified
strategies and activities enhance the language development of adolescents with deficits in their reading
comprehension skills. Cite the “Class Profile” where appropriate.

Write an essay that provides advice to the E.U. from a Liberal perspective and the advice from a Realist perspective

every year, it benefits the Chinese economy more. Compose an essay that provides advice to the E.U. from a Liberal
perspective and the advice from a Realist perspective. In your judgment, which perspective provides better advice?
Explain your answer and include direct reference to appropriate assigned reading from class.

Ocean fisheries discussion

Overview
The importance of ocean fisheries (the term includes fish, crustaceans, squid and shellfish) probably seems distant to many of you sitting here in the middle of the country amidst the Rocky Mountains where the fish you’re most likely to eat are trout. Even your eText gives the issue short-shrift. The reality is that the oceans provide many of the world’s poorest countries most of their protein and a total of 16% all the world’s protein. There are 28 major fishing nations including Japan, Indonesia, China, Russia, Spain, England, the U.S., etc. and many of the fish stocks they utilize are either fully exploited (57%) or over exploited (30%), sometimes to the point of complete collapse. In fact, the
world’s most productive fishery, one that was first exploited by the Vikings, the Great Banks cod fishery off the coast of northern New England, collapsed completely about 20 years ago and it has not recovered despite complete cessation of fishing. A similar crash occurred to the King Crab fishery in Alaska, numerous Atlantic and Pacific salmon stocks, Maryland blue crabs, the East Coast oyster fishery, the anchovy fishery off the western coast of South America, the blue fin tuna fishery, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS – Answer your choice of any 3 of the following 5 questions.
Use a search of the Web to study and respond to your choice of 3 of the following 5 questions questions. Please repeat each question in your original post so I know which ones you chose. Science Digest and Science News are particularly good Web sources for this issue but Google is never to be dismissed.

1. Why are so many of the world’s fisheries in serious trouble?
2. How are the world’s oceans and fisheries managed from a global perspective and by whom? Who determines legal catch and yields?
3. Which particular management actions have proven best for sustaining fish stocks while simultaneously providing high yield?
4. Why is the impending crash of shark stocks in many areas so important to marine ecosystems and what is the major reason they are being so intensely exploited?
5. A lot of little fish you probably seldom eat and don’t know much about such as herring, anchovies, sardines, menhaden comprise a group called forage fish. Why are they important?
*Support your initial post with 3-4 references and provide in-text citations.

Oppressive and restrictive labor management

The beginning of European settlement of the Americas from 1492 was marked by an extensive demand for labor. As the assigned class
readings and film documentaries show, the earliest forms of labor involved both coerced labor and forms of indentured servitude that utilized the work of Europeans, Native Americans and African peoples. By the late 1600s, this fluid labor arrangement became more restrictive and formalized, with a form of racially (African) based slavery imposed in North America. What factors contributed to this development? How and why did this transformation occur?”
Write a paper that addresses the question posed above. In your response, be sure to base your claims on materials read in the
assigned readings (you do not need to read additional sources for this assignment.)
