Patient monitoring system

Consider a simple patient monitoring system in which the software controller generates alarm signals when the patient’s temperature or blood pressure falls outside safe ranges. The alarm signals and safe ranges are different for temperature and blood pressure.

You may use the following Website as a resource for short Z-specification examples:

Write a paper in which you:

Determine five (5) of the controller’s monitored and controlled variables. Describe each variable and explain how it is used in the system.
Propose five (5) mode classes and five (5) terms that may be helpful in monitoring this system.
Propose three (3) Software Cost Reduction (SRC) tables for this system. There must be one (1) mode transition table, one (1) event table, and one (1) condition table.
Create one (1) short Z-specification for this system using Visio or an equivalent such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources

Illegally or legally aliens

Aliens in the U.S.

There are many ways in which aliens enter the U.S. illegally or legally and penetrate the US society until or when they are caught and removed. Illegal aliens enter the US mainstream society by using illegally obtained documents to obtain authentic government issued documents.

Explain with the help of examples, how illegal aliens obtain documents illegally.

According to you, what is the most common document sought by illegal aliens? Explain how is it feasible for them to obtain it? Why do you think so?

What is a legal entry document? What is the difference between a counterfeit document and a fraudulently altered document? According to you, which is easier to obtain and why?

What, according to you, are illegal alien networks? Explain how and what they do to facilitate illegal alien entry and the acquisition of documents, and to assist in reaching a final destination.

Alien networks are loosely related but are distinct to their function and geographic area. Explain these distinctions with the help of appropriate examples.

In what geographic areas would pro-immigrant groups concentrate their network activities? Why? What two strategies would you employ to break this nexus?

fluid imbalances

Your written assignment for this module should be a paper that describes the following:

Describe what a fluid and electrolyte imbalance is and how this is important to the function of the body?
Pick a fluid or electrolyte imbalance and describe how the patient would present, in addition to the treatment (nursing and expected medical)?

Legal risks of nurses

Analyze the case of Mrs. Ard below.

It’s Your Gavel…

CHANCE OF SURVIVAL DIMINISHED

On the afternoon of May 20, the patient, Mr. Ard, began feeling nauseated. He was in pain and had shortness of breath. Although his wife rang the call bell several times, it was not until sometime later that evening that someone responded and gave Mrs. Ard medication for the nausea. The nausea continued to worsen. Mrs. Ard then noticed that her husband was having difficulty breathing. He was reeling from side to side in bed. Believing that her husband was dying, she continued to call for help. She estimated that she rang the call bell for 1.25 hours before anyone responded. A code was eventually called. Unfortunately, Mr.Ard did not survive the code. There was no documentation in the medical records for May 20, between 5:30 PM and 6:45 PM, that would indicate that any nurse or physician checked on Ard’s condition. This finding collaborated Mrs. Ard’s testimony regarding this time period.

A wrongful death action was brought against the hospital, and the district court granted judgment for Mrs.Ard. The hospital appealed.

Ms. Krebs, an expert in general nursing, stated that it should have been obvious to the nurses from the physicians’ progress notes that the patient was a high risk for aspiration. This problem was never addressed in the nurses’ care plan or in the nurses’ notes.

On May 20, Ard’s assigned nurse was Ms. Florscheim. Krebs stated that Florscheim did not perform a full assessment of the patient’s respiratory and lung status. There was nothing in the record indicating that she completed such an evaluation after he vomited. Krebs also testified that a nurse did not conduct a swallowing assessment at any time. Although Florscheim testified that she checked on the patient around 6:00 PM on May 20, there was no documentation in the medical record. Ms. Farris, an expert witness for the defense, testified on cross-examination that if a patient was in the type of distress described byMrs.Ard and no nurse checked on him for 1.25 hours, that would fall below the expected standard of care.1

Answer the following questions:

What happened?

Why did things go wrong?

What were the relevant legal issues?

How could the event have been prevented?

What is your verdict?

Managing diversity in interdisciplinary teams

Our textbook authors provide us with a short list of guidelines for managing diversity in interdisciplinary teams(p. 133–134). As you read the list, share your reactions. In your past work on teams, where have you witnessed parts of this list working? How do you see yourself implementing these guidelines in your future leadership roles?

Explain in detail the potential results or outcomes for you the IT professional

Please write a position paper to analyze ONE of the following scenarios. In your paper, take a position on how you would correctly handle the scenario you chose, specifically, please address the following:

Identify and explain in detail what the ethical issue is presented in the scenario you selected.

Explain in detail the potential results or outcomes for you the IT professional and for the person in question if the ethical issues are not addressed?

What are the correct options or solutions that you should address or provide to properly rectify the scenario?

Case 1: You are an intern at a major corporation. Your primary job is to maintain high ranking administrators’ computers including cleaning and removing viruses, cleaning up files using company provided tools, and defragmenting disks. During your maintenance you have noticed that the Chief Operating Officer’s (COO) computer contains some pornographic images and movies. You also know that the Chief Operating Officer is a close friend of your immediate supervisor who also reports to the COO. What is your course of action in this scenario?

Case 2: You work as a part-time network administrator to create and maintain user accounts. One of your colleagues constantly asks you to cover his shift so he can leave early by not only offering you the additional hours you’re covering for him, but a couple extra hours for being a team player. What is your course of action in this scenario?

Case 3: You work as a full-time programmer in a small software development company. Your friends at a nearby corporation always invite you for lunches or happy hours with them. You want to maintain friendship with them so they may give you information on job openings at their firm. Your company offers a half-hour lunch time and most happy hours begin at 4:00 pm while your working hours end at 5:00 pm. What is your course of action in this scenario?

Case 4: You are a full-time information security analyst. The Anonymous group contacted you and is offering you $1,000 in bit coins every week to send daily security log files to them that have information embedded in the logs that you don’t think is important to anybody. What is your course of action in this scenario?

Case 5: You work in a data center as a backup and restore specialist. The company you work for is under investigation and certain backup files and logs are needed to facilitate this investigation. You are requested by a manager two levels above you, who is under investigation, to say those files were corrupt and unavailable and they have indicated they would make it worth your while to do so. What is your course of action in this scenario?

Case 6: You work as a technician at a major record company. Your friends ask you to occasionally download songs that you have access to via the record company onto a USB thumb drive and send them to them when you get home. What is your course of action in this scenario?

Case 7: You work in a school as a computer technician. You are also enrolled in the same school as a student. You get a new job in the IT department for a different company and you quit your current job at your school. What is your course of action in this scenario?

Case 8: You work at a company as a computer technician. You notice that some of the computer hardware inventory including monitors, RAM, storage drives, projectors, etc., are missing or contain unexpected items. In particular, you notice that instead of having eight 8GB memory modules in your inventory, you have eight 4GB memory modules. You also notice that instead of two Intel Xeon processors, you have three AMD processors. You suspect that your immediate supervisor has modified the inventory and descriptions of some of the items in the database. What is your course of action in this scenario?
