Women and politics

First, write a few paragraph response about politics and feminism using the questions below as guides.

What does it mean to you to say that “the personal is the political?”
What are some of the ways women can gain political power? Why is it important for women to have a voice in government and policy? Why is it important that women exercise their right to vote?
What reasons does Susan B. Anthony give in “Constitutional Argument” for why women need to be acknowledged as citizens with equal rights (including the right to vote) under the constitution?
Should women be considered as a voting group? What are the arguments for and against thinking about women as a single constituency?
What do you think would be the most effective way to move more women into political office, particularly on the national level?
How are gender roles and expectations connected to violence against women? What role do governments and political organizations have in finding solutions?
Second, write a few paragraphs about body politics using the following questions as guidelines

Did this reading help you gain a different understanding of the term “body politics?” How are women’s bodies politicized?
Why is reproductive choice such a controversial political issue? Do you think the fact that most issues of reproductive choice center on women and women’s bodies have contributed to the belief that government has a role to play in managing reproductive choice? Are there any aspects of male health or sexuality that are equally politicized? Should it be a political issue at all?
Margaret Sanger’s campaign to legalize birth control was met with sometimes violent protest by those who objected that she was essentially promoting lewd behavior. Why do you think people were so strongly against her campaign? What were people worried would happen if women gained access to birth control?
Like Margaret Sanger, feminism (and Women’s Studies) has traditionally supported a pro-choice position on abortion. Do you agree with this position? What would a pro-life feminist position look like?
How are issues of birth control and abortion intersectional? Are there different perspectives on birth control that need to be considered in feminist movements?

Critical review of bipolar disorder

A critical review of the drug treatment for a neuropsychological disorder. The review will use peer-reviewed and/or scholarly sources to provide an evidence base for the evaluation of current drug treatment modalities for the disorder.

Utilized the DSM-5 as one of your sources.

1) Introduction:

Evaluate the disorder in terms of symptomatic and behavioral presentation. Include the time, course, and progression of the disorder. Evaluate and explain special features of the disease epidemiology including risk factors for development of the disorder, lifespan and reproductive factors increasing risk of developing the disorder, and any genetic, environmental, or behavioral factors that increase risk.

2) Theory:

Evaluate the predominant theory or theories regarding the biological basis of the disorder. Explain the disorder in terms of pertinent neurotransmitter and receptor theories and use your references to provide an evidence base for these theories.

Analyze neurotransmitter system(s) involved in the pathology of the disorder, including a description of:

1) the involved neurotransmitter(s) and receptor(s),

2) regions of the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nervous system) involved with any pathological anatomical changes, and 3) abnormalities of neural circuits and pathways. Include an explanation of how receptor agonists or antagonists would theoretically treat the disorder to reverse the pathology and restore normal function, or why they would be expected to improve symptoms.

Treatment:

Evaluate drug therapies for treating the disorder based on the current understanding of the biological basis of the disorder. Include a description of the behavioral symptoms and physical signs of the disorder, and identify the drug class(es) used in pharmacological therapy with a discussion of the mechanism of action of the drug class(es). Explain why the pharmacodynamics of the drug class(es) would affect the pathology of the disorder to restore function and/or improve symptoms. Include a discussion of the drug pharmacokinetics for each drug class. Provide examples of available marketed drugs within each class. Describe any drug side effects and/or adverse effects of the drug treatment and their biological basis, including issues related to contraindications, interactions, drug metabolism, and elimination. In addition, explain risks, benefits, and ethical implications for high-risk and exceptional treatment conditions.

Conclusion:

Summarize theories of neuropsychological disorders as they relate to principles of drug action for that selected disorder. Provide a synopsis of the evidence base that supports or disproves current theories regarding the pathology of the disorder, advantages and disadvantages of current drug treatment(s). Lastly, evaluate any controversies regarding ethical and/or risk-benefit perspectives associated with the current treatment(s). Describe possible areas for future research.

At least one recommendation for promoting their child’s emotional, social, cognitive, or physical development at home.

Project estimating and control techniques

Review the JP Phentar Construction: Case Study in Ch. 11 of A Comprehensive Guide to Project Management Schedule and Cost Control and Review Questions Grading Guide.

Complete the following:

Determine which information-gathering tools would be most effective for this project and what activities would need to be monitored.
Based on data that would be generated from work activities, what types of analytical tools could be used to determine project status?
Can any corrective actions be initiated? And if so, how?
Answer these questions in a paper.

Integrating literacy article

Literacy is an area that crosses all content curriculum. Without mastery of reading and writing skills, many students will struggle to learn and demonstrate understanding in other content areas. It is important for teachers in all content areas to consistently integrate literacy skills into their curriculum, as well as assess them regularly to support the learning of every student.

As the department lead, your principal has asked you to write an article for the monthly district newsletter explaining the importance of integrating literacy into all classes and content areas.

The article must include the following:

An engaging title and author byline
Definition of interdisciplinary literacy and fluency in contemporary education
Overview of three key theories related to reading and writing processes and development across content areas
Explanation of how cross-disciplinary instruction supports the historically shared knowledge base of literacy in all content areas
Support your findings with a minimum of 3-5 scholarly resources.

Read the following email from Joseph Park about self-service kiosks* at Ginger Market. Then, write a well-developed essay discussing how effectively this letter achieves its purpose. What strengths and weaknesses do you see in the letter? Are there rhetorical appeals and strategies that the writer has used well? Do you see places where the writer could use other rhetorical appeals or strategies to achieve the purpose more effectively? What should the writer do to make this letter more effective? Explain your reasoning. Be sure to include some discussion of rhetorical strategies and rhetorical appeals.
Dear Mr. Smith,I am writing to discuss the problem of the changes to the campus store Ginger Market, located at MacQuarrie Hall. What is up with the kiosks?!Last year, Ginger Market used an ordering and payment system like any other traditional store, with an assortment of foods and drinks available on shelves or made to order, both paid for at one of the available cash registers, attended by a friendly cashier. On my first visit to Ginger Market this semester, everything appeared to be the same as last year. Other customers thought so, too, because we were all standing in line at the cash register, waiting for someone to take our order, but no one did. Then a worker approached us and told us we had to order at the kiosks. So I walked over to the kiosk. I knew I wanted a nonfat, sugar-free, hot green tea latte, so I poked at the screen to find it. The touch screen has headings for the various kinds of made-to-order food and drinks, but if you make a mistake, there’s no “Back” button and you have to start all over again. It’s so stupid! I had to do this several times because, guess what! There was no green tea latte under Espresso Drinks, and it wasn’t under Teas either. All I was thinking was “What the heck!?” I had to ask for help. The nice worker explained that something was wrong with the electronic menu and for some reason green tea lattes were not showing, so she advised me to order a regular latte, pay for it, and then run up to the baristas to inform them of what I really wanted before they made the drink I didn’t want. So I rolled my eyes and asked her, “What is the point of the kiosk if I have to talk to the barista anyway? ”I’m sure you understand my frustration. Whatever happened to hospitality and a little human interaction? I’m really not into this fully automated future that we’re headed toward for the sake of “convenience.” That’s how the businesses try to sell us on these “advances.” But my suspicions are that machines are ultimately cheaper than human employees, and this is just one more way businesses are ruining everything. Profits rise, quality suffers, and service-sector workers are losing their jobs. I recommend a dual system. I suggest Ginger Market have kiosks available for the shelved items, so students and faculty who are in a hurry can use the self-checkout and not wait in line. But for custom food and drink orders, give us a human being with whom we can talk, explain our order, and maybe even exchange a smile. Disgruntled customer who will not be returning, Joseph Park

EBP project draft scenario

Imagine the following scenario: You are taking the evidence-based practice course and one of your classmates shares an EBP project draft with you. You notice that some of the research has not been cited correctly or even at all. When you approach your classmate, the response is that “no one will notice, and it is not a big deal anyway.” What are your next steps in speaking with your classmate? Consider how this could reflect on the credibility and integrity of the individuals involved, the university, and the profession

Major depressive disorder

GOAL: The purpose of this assignment is for students to demonstrate the ability to locate peer reviewed/scholarly academic journal research articles, analyze the information in those articles, and present that information in a scholarly and professional manner that teaches those who read the paper about that topic.

write a research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on a DSM-5 diagnosis. Using the articles from your Annotated Bibliography address:

DSM-5 (NOT 4!) criteria for the diagnosis (use “5” not “V” as the Roman numeral is no longer used)
What are the symptoms/triggers? What do they look like?
Is it common (i.e. many people experience it) or is it rare?
What is the etiology? Is this biological, environmental, or both? What are potential genetic influences?
What are treatments (NOT medication—psychologists can only prescribe in five states, so do not discuss medication or you will get a zero for the treatment portion.) Look for CBT, EFT, etc. These are broad categories and have specific techniques, so you will want to discuss and describe specific techniques that are used.
What life disruption occurs as a result of the symptoms of this mental illness? Address all areas (family, relationships, work, social interactions with strangers, functioning independently).
What is the prognosis if untreated versus treated effectively? In other words, if left unchecked how will symptoms impact one’s future work/relationships/life? What are the worst-case and best-case scenarios? If treated, will the person need a lifetime of maintenance care? (You may refer to medication generally in this section, such as “will need antipsychotic medication and a life-long series of doctor’s assessments to monitor for side effects” but this section needs to be very specific and refer back to life disruption discussion.)
