Rewarding through performance management

In today’s turbulent economic times, reward systems, in many organizations, have been revised/modified, thereby resulting in frustration, uncertainty, loss of security, etc. In fact, many organizations have cut base pay, reduced short-term incentives, eliminated long-term incentives, and more. Due to COVID-19, organizations are struggling to maintain financial stability. Unfortunately, employees often feel the brunt of the reward cutbacks.

For this week’s discussion forum, please select an organization of your choice. The organization can be based in the KSA or anywhere else in the world. No student should select the same organization as his/her classmates. In your post, address the following:

Explain what type of reward system is utilized.

Then, consider that a 20% cut needs to be made, in regard to rewards, to ensure organizational success. What types of rewards would you recommend cutting? How might you use intangible returns to make up for monetary cuts? What types of intangible returns could you use? Why?

Analyze complex relationships of distributive leadership

You have taken a leadership position in an organization that is new to you. In this scenario, present what leadership knowledge and skills you will need to address the following in understanding your new organization. Use real-life experiences and relevant situations, which become a description of your interaction with the new organization.

How will you develop trust?
How will you develop two-way communication?
How will you share power with your team?
How will you provide feedback to the team?
How will you evaluate the team’s accomplishments? In this section, you may discuss mentoring, coaching, and one-to-one dialogue also; present how to use at least one metric data point for team evaluation.

Discussion: Contemporary Human Services

Human services organizations do not operate in a vacuum. Like other nonprofit organizations, there are factors that affect them in a variety of ways. Specifically, political, social, and technological factors influence the way that human services organizations operate. In a rapidly changing society, these factors may play an important role for human services organizations as they attempt to keep pace with changes that affect them. These factors may also pose challenges that are difficult to overcome. For this Discussion, consider factors that pose challenges to human service administrators in carrying out organizational service duties.

Post a brief description of two political, social, and/or technological factors in human services and explain how those factors influence the operations of a contemporary human services or social services agency in your area. Provide an example of a human services organization you might be familiar with from anywhere in the world you have worked or been involved. Use the Learning Resources to support your response.

A national standard requires that public bridge over 200

Math 533.

Question 1: A national standard requires that public bridge over 200 feet in length must be inspected and rated every 2 years. The rating scale ranges from 0 (poorest rating to 0 (highest rating). A group of engineers used a probabilistic model to forecast the inspection ratings of all major brides in a city. For the year 2020, the engineers forecast that 6% of all major bridges in that city will have rating of 4 or below. Complete parts a and b.

a. Use the forecast to find the probability that in a random sample of 9 major bridges in the city, at least 3 will have an inspection rating of 4 or below in 2020.

P(x) = ? (Round to five decimal places as needed)

b. Suppose that you actually observe 3 or more of the sample of 9 bridges with inspection rating of 4 or below in 2020. What inference can you make? Why?

Choose correct answers:

A. Since the probability of this observation occurring is so large, it can be concluded that the forecast of 6% is too small. There would probably be more than 6%.

B. Since the probability of this observation occurring is so small, it can be concluded that the forecast of 6% is too large. There would be probably be less than 6%.

C. Since the probability of this observation occurring is so large, it can be concluded that the forecast of 6% is too large. There would be less than 6%.

D. Since the probability of this observation occurring is so small, it can be concluded that the forecast of 6% is too small. There would be more than 6%.

Question 2: According to a certain golf association, the weight of the golf ball ball shall not be greater than 1.620 ounces (45.93 grams). The diameter of the ball shall not be less than 1.680 inches. The velocity of the ball shall not be greater than 250 feet per second. The golf association periodically checks the specifications of golf balls using random sampling. Three dozen of each kind are sampled, and if more than three do not meet size or velocity requirements, that kind of ball ir removed from the golf association’s approved list. Complete parts a andb.

a.What assumption must be made in order to use the binomial probability distribution to calculate the probability that a particular kind of golf ball will be removed?

A. The experiment consists of n identical trials. The number of outcomes can vary. The probability of success can change. The trials are independent.

B. The experiment consists of n identical trials. There are only two possible outcomes on each trial. The probability of success remains the same from trial to trial. The trials are independent.

C. The experiment consists of n identical trials. There are only two possible outcomes on each trial. The probability of success can change from trial to trial. The trials are dependent.

What information must be known in order to use the binomial probability distribution to calculate the probability that a particular kind of golf ball will be removed?

A. The percentage of that kind of golf ball that meets the velocity requirements.

B. The percentage of that kind of golf ball that meets all the requirements.

C. The percentage of that kind of golf ball that meets the size requirements.

D. The percentage of that kind of golf ball that fails to meet both size and velocity requirements.

b. Suppose 10% of all balls produced by a particular manufacturer are less than 1.680 inches in diameter, and assume that the number of such balls, x, in a sample of three dozen balls can be adequately characterized by a binomial probability distribution. Find each mean of the binomial distribution.

(Round to the nearest tenth as needed).

Find the standard deviation of the binomial distribution.

(Round to the nearest thousandth as needed).

Question 3: If x is a binomial random variable, use the binomial probability table to find the probabilities below.

a. P(x=3) for n = 10, p = 0.6 b. P(x) for n = 15, p = 0.3

c. P(x) for n = 5, p = 0.5 d. P(x) for n = 15, p = 0.9

e. P(x) for n = 25, p = 0,9 f. P(x = 3) for n = 20, p = 0.4

a. P(x = 3) = ? (Round to three decimal places as needed)

b. P(x ) = ? (Round to three decimal places as needed)

c. P(x) = ? (Round to three decimal places as needed)

d. P(x) = ? (Round to three decimal places as needed)

e. P(x) = ? (Round to three decimal places as needed)

f. P(x = 3) =? (Round to three decimal places as needed)

Gasland Part II Questionnaire

1.How much natural gas does President Obama say the USA has in reserve?

2.According to Wilma Subra, what has happened to the Gulf of Mexico ecosystem after the BP oil spill in 2010? Does gas production continue?

3.What is termed the “Saudi Arabia of natural gas”?

4.What is hydraulic fracturing? What method is used for gas extraction?

5.Is fracking included in the Safe Drinking Water Act? Do companies have to disclose what chemicals they are using during fracking?

6.According to the NY Times report how was waste water from drilling being disposed of?

7.What gas was contaminating Dimock, Pennsylvania’s groundwater?

8.Land owners in Wyoming do not own “Mineral Rights.” This means the oil and gas companies can buy the mineral rights and land owners have no control over where there is drilling and get no profits from oil and gas extracted from beneath their land. Does this seem fair?

9.Once contaminates, like the chemicals used in fracking fluids, get into the ground, can those contaminates be removed easily?

10.What is your opinion on the following statements?

•“There’s really absolutely nothing new about this… We’ve been doing resource extraction at the expense of indigenous populations the entire history of this country… Unique to the situation is, you got a lot of upper middle class white people with college degrees getting ticked off because they’re being treated the way third world people have always been treated by corporate America.” – Rep. Lon Burnam (TX)

•“Three years ago I was a Republican, now I’m an Independent… The things they did, they pissed all over us… What they’re doing here is the biggest assault on private property rights that I’ve ever heard or seen, and they’re supposed to be conservatives. That’s one of the founding principles of conservativism, is private property rights, and you got no private property rights. Not in Texas at least” – Calvin Tillman, Mayor, Dish, TX

11.What consequence of oil and gas drilling to human health is being experienced by Bob and Lisa Parr?

12.Was construction of the municipal water pipe that would bring clean water to Dimock, PA completed?
