Ethics Nursing homework help

This week students will be completing a narrated power point to discuss one of the following cases.

Lisa McPherson Clearwater, Florida (1995)
Terri Schiavo St. Petersburg, Florida (1990–2005)
Nadya Doud-Suleman Bellflower, California (January 2009)
Elodie Irvine v. Regents of the University of California 57 Cal.Rptr.3d 500, 149 Cal.App.4th 994 (2007) Court of Appeal State of California, Fourth Appellate District Division Three
First, students should pick one of the ethical cases above and create a power point presentation to address the following:

What are the facts of the case? This should include: what do we need to know, who is involved in the situation, where does the ethical situation take place, and when does it occur? (3-4 slides)
What is the precise ethical issue in regards to autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, fidelity, and justice? (5-6 slides)
Identify the major principles, rules, and values of the case. Values are sets of beliefs about good and bad, right and wrong, and about many other aspects of living and interacting in the society with others. A principle is a personal rule that governs personal behavior. A rule is generally imposed by a figure of authority, and used to guide and govern people. (3-5 slides)
Is there legal ground for this case, state what they are? Who is at fault? What legal action should be taken? (2-4 slides)
Are there alternative to the actions completed in this case by the parties involved? What could have been done to prevent the outcome of the case? (3-6 slides)
If you were a member of the ethics committee at the facility the event happened, what action would you take in this case? (2-4 slides)
As a healthcare professional, how did the outcome of the case make you feel? Does it align with your personal values and beliefs? Would caring for this patient be difficult? How do you separate your personal beliefs when completing your job? (4-6 slides)

What is more “true”? The self that you show the world in waking life, or the self that you encounter in the dream?

For this assignment, you will complete one paragraph wherein you’ll take a stance regarding the questions:

What is more “true”? The self that you show the world in waking life, or the self that you encounter in the dream?
Do we dream to avoid waking reality, or do we wake up to avoid the dream?
EXTRA CHALLENGE: Can our inner world (and the idea of a “true self within”) hide the truth of the “outer self” or “public” mask? Is the “butterfly” allowing Zhuangzi to flee from the pressures of his outer life as Zhuangzi? In other words, does a belief in “truly being a butterfly” hide the horror of having to be Zhuangzi himself? Can we take refuge in the fantasy (butterfly) in order to make it through the day of having to be “ourself” (or having to be yourself)?

Off-Label Drug Use in Pediatrics

The unapproved use of approved drugs, also called off-label use, with children is quite common. This is because pediatric dosage guidelines are typically unavailable since very few drugs have been specifically researched and tested with children.

When treating children, prescribers often adjust dosages approved for adults to accommodate a child’s weight. However, children are not just “smaller” adults. Adults and children process and respond to drugs differently in their absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. Children even respond differently during stages from infancy to adolescence. This poses potential safety concerns when prescribing drugs to pediatric patients. As an advanced practice nurse, you have to be aware of safety implications of the off-label use of drugs with this patient group.

To prepare:

· Review the Panther et al (2017) and Corney, Lebel, Bailey, and Bussieres (2015) articles in the Learning Resources. Reflect on situations in which children should be prescribed drugs for off-label use.

· Think about strategies to make the off-label use and dosage of drugs safer for children from infancy to adolescence. Consider specific off-label drugs that you think require extra care and attention when used in pediatrics.

With these thoughts in mind:

Write Include sub headings plz. And purpose of writing.

· an explanation of circumstances under which children should be prescribed drugs for off-label use.

· Then, describe strategies to make the off-label use and dosage of drugs safer for children from infancy to adolescence.

· Include descriptions and names of off-label drugs that require extra care and attention when used in pediatrics.

Enterprise risk management Computer Science

Chapter 12 presented the approach Intuit uses to measure the effectiveness of their ERM, and chapter 15 presented the process the City of Edmonton employed to develop and deploy their ERM. You are an ERM consultant, retained by Intuit to re-implement their ERM. They have decided to start over and develop a new ERM for their current organization. Would you recommend that the base their new ERM on PM2 Risk Scorecard or ISO 31000? Explain why you would choose one over the other. You must use at least 2 paragraphs (of you own words) to justify your answer.

Reply to the following responses:

1. Violence in this sense refers to the use of brutal force to cause harm or injury. The established governments have a monopoly on violence. Machiavelli argues that rulers should use violence during times of political instability and tumults (Machiavelli and Wootton 45). The leader ought to show cruelty during those times to ensure that the community benefits after destroying its enemies. Secondly, a leader can employ violence when occupying a foreign land. Violence is used as a means to an end (Kehlenbach). In our contemporary world, the US government, through its foreign policy, uses military aggression to occupy countries that deny the new system of world order (Kehlenbach). The capitalist system allows overexploitation of natural resources by domineering companies largely owned by the West Countries and allied nations.

Continually, he argues that a prince or a ruler ought to learn not to be too good and be ready to kill strong people he feels can threaten his power and make weak people around him his friends(Kehlenbach). A ruler gains respect and reputation through remarkable achievements such as annihilating enemies of the state (Machiavelli and Wootton 43). According to Machiavelli, a leader should behave like Cesare Borgia (Kehlenbach). When Borgia assumed power and went by Agathocles’ steps, he killed all his opponents, mercenaries, and auxiliaries and established his army.

In conclusion, violence is very important as it functions to found and consolidate power, authority, and legitimacy (Kehlenbach). In our times, we have seen factions fighting the ruling government being crushed to nothing. Two is that the ruler can also use it to prop up his power by cutting down the number of ruling elites (Kehlenbach). It ensures that the leader practices his power without caring to consider the opinions and ideas of others. Three is that rulers stage violence to secure allegiance. Lastly, a ruler uses violent acts to instill fear upon his subjects and the neighboring republics (Kehlenbach).

2. Machiavelli says that the way to win over the support of the people when taking over a new territory is to ”give offense” (Machiavelli), or in other words cause those people harm in order to take control of power. Machiavelli also says that even if the people turn against you when taking control of the territory, that gives you a chance to carry out more aggressive actions, or stronger measures to make it easier to remain in control of power. Machiavelli cautions against destroying a republic city, as to destroy a republic city is to lose the territory and all the other resources you have come to conquer and control for yourself. Instead, Machiavelli suggests that governments that are not republics be destroyed, for the reasons listed above. Furthermore, Machiavelli cautions against actions that directly attack either the people or the population. He says that when a ruler wantonly murders normal people, it should be considered a wicked action. This is because it doesn’t help the conquerer, and can really turn the situation against them, and he refers to this violence as cruelty that is abused and this cruelty is often abused when done repeatedly.

Personal Reflection Essay

For this essay, you will need to identify the ‘root metaphor’ or central idea of your own life. This paper must have a thesis, as per the Gordon rule requirements. For this essay, you will analyze yourself using the theoretical frameworks for analysis presented in this class. The purpose of this assignment is to assess whether you understand the basic concepts of the study of religion by identifying what is sacred in your life and then demonstrating how whatever is sacred in your life gives you hope and power to not be overcome by the human problem and the problem of evil.
Have an intro paragraph where you identify what is sacred or what you worship in your life. This will serve as your thesis for this assignment.
Spend the first part of the body of your essay clearly articulating what is sacred in your life, and how it acts in your life according to the definitions below:
What you worship: “Because here’s something else that’s weird but true: in the day-to day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship. And the compelling reason for maybe choosing some sort of god or spiritual-type thing to worship—be it JC or Allah, be it YHWH or the Wiccan Mother Goddess, or the Four Noble Truths, or some inviolable set of ethical principles—is that pretty much anything else you worship will eat you alive. If you worship money and things, if they are where you tap real meaning in life, then you will never have enough, never feel you have enough. It’s the truth. Worship your body and beauty and sexual allure and you will always feel ugly. And when time and age start showing, you will die a million deaths before they finally grieve you. On one level, we all know this stuff already. It’s been codified as myths, proverbs, clichés, epigrams, parables; the skeleton of every great story.” -David Foster Wallace, This Is Water: Some Thoughts, Delivered on a Significant Occasion, about Living a Compassionate Life
How what we worship acts in our lives: “Religion [or the sacred] is (1) a system of symbols which acts to (2) establish powerful, pervasive, and long-lasting moods and motivations in [people] by (3) formulating conceptions of a general order of existence and (4) clothing these conceptions with such an aura of factuality that the moods and motivations seem uniquely realistic.” –Clifford Geertz [Brackets my own]
Spend the second part of the body of your essay articulating and demonstrating how what you worship, (or what is sacred to you), and how it acts in your life gives you fulfilment despite the human problem.
“The Human Problem is the cause of distress, strife, and ignorance. It’s the cause of overwhelming senses of alienation, weakness, & inadequacy in our lives. Plainly, it’s the emptiness and lack of fulfillment in the human experience. The impact of the human problem is that most humans agree that life is not what it should be.” -Lecture 10
Spend the third part of the body of your essay articulating and demonstrating how what you worship, (or what is sacred to you), and how it acts in your life gives you hope despite the problem of evil and suffering in the world, so that you are not overcome by despair and hopelessness.
The problem of evil and suffering are realities humanity must deal with, that we all experience. This is evil, injustice, and suffering that exist in us, around us, and generally in the world.
You can look at Lecture 11 if you need reminding.
Have a conclusion paragraph where you restate your thesis in light of what you’ve argued above
