Criminological Theory

Recently activist groups have proposed a return to Marxist philosophies when advocating for change in pursuit of social justice and economic inequality. Briefly discuss the concept of radical criminology and the teaching of Marx to demonstrate your understanding. Then answer the following question: Does the Marxist perspective hold any significance for contemporary American society? Why?

How did the experience of conquest and colonization differed for men and women.

This week we also explored colonization. How did the experience of conquest and colonization differed for men and women. Briefly summarize the gender differences experienced by different populations. Why did these differences occur?

In addition, we explore theoretical approaches regarding prejudice. Explain which approach explains prejudice best (personality-centered approaches, culture-based approaches, or power-culture theories). How might understanding these theories help guide policy makers dealing with issues of prejudice and discrimination? Or, how might they use what they know to create social change in communities in regards to prejudice and discrimination?

This chapter describes prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination. What prejudice and discrimination do you currently see happening around you? What theories described in this chapter would support your opinions? Is there a intersection of race, gender and socioeconomic status?

DOCUMENTARY ANALYSIS SUBMISSION
