Three-dimensional artwork(1 page max). Identify three visual elements in the composition and add mention how each is being used in the artwork.

Guide:

Formal and stylistic analysis: For each artwork provide the artist name, title of the artwork, date, media, size (height always precedes length. If the work is three-dimensional, add depth). Is the work representational? (Does the work clearly depict objects or people as we would recognize them in the world around us)? Alternatively, is its subject matter completely unrecognizable (is it non-objective)? To what degree has the artist simplified, emphasized, or distorted aspects of forms in the work (or abstracted it)? Does this artwork have a unique style? Or can you identify characteristics that it shares with other artworks by the same artist, from the same period or place, or belonging to the same artistic group or movement?

Iconographic analysis: Are there things in the work that you can interpret as signs or symbols? For example, is there anything that suggests a religious meaning, or indicates the social status of somebody depicted in the work (hierarchical scale)? Labels often provide good information about iconography.

Biographical and psychological analysis: Would information about the life of the artist help you to interpret the work? Do you think the artist’s state of mind (happy, depressed, anxious) has affected the artwork? Again, labels are often a good source of biographical detail. In some museums volunteer docents are available to answer questions about an artist’s life and works.

Contextual analysis: Would you understand the work better if you knew something about the history of the era in which it was created, or about religious, political, economic, and social issues that influenced its creation? Identify three visual elements and three principles of design in each work of art, giving examples of how they function in the compositional aspect of the artwork. Give evidence to your claims. It is not enough to mention the vocabulary, you must back up your assertions with evidence. For example, if identifying colors in a painting, do not just mention yellow, blue, discuss the color harmony used and how the colors interact with one another to create a certain mood. Read about color in the textbook. Is it complementary, cool, warm? What kind of feeling does it evoke?

How can overcharging or horizontal and vertical charging be employed as a strategy for discovering the truth?

Truth, Justice, and Charging
Overcharging, or piling on charges to trigger the acceptance of a plea deal, is a common practice in prosecutorial settings to get a defendant to accept a particular deal. Horizontal charging, or multiplying accusations, and vertical charging, or charging at a higher level than warranted, are variations of overcharging. Depending on your perspective, these strategies provide leverage to uncover the truth, or they force defendants to make poor choices, admitting to inflated charges. But is the issue that clearly delineated? In this Discussion, you consider similar questions.

Post a response to the following:

How can overcharging or horizontal and vertical charging be employed as a strategy for discovering the truth? When is it most appropriate?

By whom are the strategies best applied?

At what point does overcharging or horizontal and vertical charging become coercion?

Is the strategy ethical?

Ancient Wonders Of The World
Select one of the ancient wonders…

Where is/was the ancient wonder located in the world?
Why was it built and did the purpose of the structure change over time?
Do remains of the ancient wonder still exist today? What condition are they in? Can people visit the site?
What are the significant features of the structure?
What is it made of and how was the structure built?
Once you have introduced the ancient wonder, analyze its significance in history and now. What did the wonder mean to the people of the past? Does the structure still have meaning today for the people from that culture?
Include a few images of the ancient wonder from today and/or pictures depicting what it might have looked like in use

What is the main issue for your organization in addressing a solution to evidence-based nursing practice?

Identification Of Issue Significant To Nursing Practice II
Nosocomial infections remain a problem in the United States, with 1 in 25 inpatients having nosocomial infections (CDC, 2018). Infectious diseases can be transmitted to patients in hospitals and medical facilities in a variety of ways. Healthcare workers can be transmitted from contaminated equipment, bedding, or droplets, as well as from contaminated hands. HAI can also come from the external environment or the community. Hand hygiene is recognized by infection prevention and management professionals as one of the most important means of promoting the spread of infection in both medical and community areas. Since hand hygiene is an integral part of the work of caregivers and other healthcare professionals, it is important to practice hand hygiene frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand disinfection. The main problem with hand hygiene treatment is non-compliance by medical professionals (Becker`s Healthcare, 2013).

Evidence-based practices also show that the reduction of nosocomial infections begins with compliance by healthcare professionals with hand hygiene practices and the removal of obstacles associated with non-compliance. Hand hygiene (Elizabeth, Sydney & Cyrus, 2013). The first steps organizations take to ensure health care workers’ hand hygiene compliance are to further educate hospital-acquired infections, hand hygiene practices, and to wash hands (soap sinks) and hand hygiene products. Is to provide access. Includes alcohol hand washing, wipes, gels and foams. These interventions are important ways to strengthen proper hand washing or hygiene habits and reduce infections in the clinical setting (Elizabeth, Sydney & Cyrus2013).

What is the main issue for your organization in addressing a solution to evidence-based nursing practice? Discuss what might be the first step in addressing and resolving this issue.

Describe a real ethical decision that you have faced or know about in your work.

Write a paper on Ethics in the Fire Service. Everything we do or don’t do, is a choice that affects both our lives and the lives of others. Ethics is about making choices based on rational principles and common values rather than self-interest or quick-returns.

Making ethical decisions is about:

having integrity with the principles of our profession
being consistent with our own beliefs
coordinating both ends and means
living in harmony with common ethical values
being consistent about what is thought to be right or wrong
treating others as we want to be treated
understanding facts, alternatives, and consequences
understanding how other people think and feel
being discerning in right vs right situations

Below are some examples of ethical issues in firefighting:

1. The local fire department is working a fire in a liquor store. The fire is knocked down, and one firefighter is assigned to remain on the scene as a fire watch. The health inspector has condemned the entire stock of liquor, and the contents of the store will be destroyed later that day. The firefighter finds two undamaged cases of liquor and takes them home. When confronted about this action, the firefighter responded, “The liquor was going to be destroyed anyway, so I didn’t think anyone would mind if I took some home.”

2. A fire captain assigned to inspect a nursing home doesn’t even bother to visit the building but fills out the required reports fraudulently. When his superiors confront him, he replies, “They never do anything with the inspection reports; no one does them anymore.” The captain steadfastly defends his actions by blaming the department for not following up on inspections.

3. Two manufacturers request occupancy permits for their individual construction projects. One company is owned and operated by a citizen from a nearby community; the other, by the brother of a city councilor. In both cases, exit facilities have been properly installed but are blocked by construction materials stored in the outside path of exit. The assigned inspector rejects both properties. The fire prevention chief receives a call from the city councilor to discuss the upcoming fire department budget hearings. During the conversation, he mentions that his brother needs that occupancy permit and the councilor would appreciate any assistance the chief could give him in that matter. The chief issues occupancy permits for one or both properties. When questioned about this action, the chief says, “The fire department needs the councilor’s support in the upcoming budget review. I approved the permit for the good of the department.”

These are common examples of the types of ethical issues fire service personnel may encounter. In each example, the firefighter employee rationalized his actions. The firefighter decided it was okay to take two cases of liquor because it would be destroyed anyway. The captain didn’t do his inspection because the department wouldn’t follow up on violations properly. The fire prevention chief claimed he was acting in the best interest of the fire department.[1]

Ethical decision making refers to the process of evaluating and choosing among alternatives in a manner consistent with ethical
principles. In making ethical decisions it is necessary to:

Notice and eliminate unethical options – right vs wrong. Ethical thinking requires a sensitivity to perceive the ethical implications of decisions.
Evaluate complex, ambiguous and incomplete facts. It is often difficult to obtain all the necessary information.
Select the best ethical alternative. Resolve any ethical dilemmas – right vs right. Not all ethical responses to a situation are equal.
Have an ethical commitment, ethical consciousness, and ethical competency. Ethical thinking and decision-making take practice.
Noticing the ethical issues and being committed to act ethically are not always enough – reasoning and problem-solving skills are often necessary.

Instructions:

Write a 3-5 page paper single spaced, using 12 point font that responds to the following:

Describe a real ethical decision that you have faced or know about in your work.
Outline how you would make and implement an ethical decision using the process described above.
Your response should illustrate your understanding of ethics and ethical issues in firefighting and meet the minimum length requirements.
A successful paper will demonstrate accurate comprehension of the Maxwell text and the links provided above, by providing citations and making appropriate references.
