Explain how Senator Joseph McCarthy defined communist nations within the speech. What specific threats did these nations pose?

McCarthyism and Anti-Communist Campaigns

Perform a search on the internet and locate and read Joseph McCarthy’s speech given in Wheeling, West Virginia on February 9, 1950. Copy and paste the following keywords into your Google search bar: “Joseph McCarthy, Wheeling, West Virginia.” The speech is also referred to as “Enemies from Within.”

Assess if Senator Joseph McCarthy charges were accurate.
Analyze anti-communist sentiments during the Cold War era, were these sentiments valid. If so, how? If not, why not?

Given that each facility will have unique locale considerations, what are some best practices that could be used to implement an effective local environment security design?

Topic 1: Local Environment Security Management
Local environment security management must be handled in a manner specific to the facility’s locale.
Questions to ask include what the local crime rate is, how vulnerable the locale is to natural disasters
such as floods or earthquakes, whether the utilities are reliable, and even whether the facility is located
beneath a major flight path. Given that each facility will have unique locale considerations, what are
some best practices that could be used to implement an effective local environment security design?
Topic 2: Business Continuity Management
Business continuity management is intended to mitigate the effects of a disaster that makes the
company’s physical and/or digital assets unavailable. There has been a growing trend for businesses to
use disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) as a primary business continuity safeguard. However,
DRaaS is a cloud-based service, so what would happen if the business did not have access to a
reliable Internet connection? Under what circumstances would a DRaaS solution be appropriate, and
what are some alternative continuity management solutions that could be deployed if DRaaS is not
available?

Where should we change our system first?

As discussed in class, unfortunately, our political situation in the United States is far from healthy. The existence of opposing ideas are totally fine. Yet, no real discussions with significant and clear gaps between two big camps are not. Presidential system with SMDP works probably the worst in this kind of social setting. Unfortunately, unlike a computer, we cannot restart from scratch. We have to work with what we have. Also, let’s put one condition so that our discussions will not end up like Scientific Fiction: No revolution or civil war option. Keep the violence incurring change to the minimum.

Where should we change our system first? Is there any liklihood that we can change? Electoral college? Maybe, from a local to state level? Whatever you think works can be a good starting point. Should we stay united as the United States? Can’t we be like an EU? Use your knowledge learned from this course (and others if relevant).
