Construct an essay in four sections that compares and contrasts the United States of America as a meritocracy. Section one, approximately one paragraph: Introduction to the essay that includes the definition of meritocracy and a strong thesis statement declaring the U.S.A. is or is not primarily a meritocracy. Section two, approximately one-two paragraphs: illustrating ways in which the U.S.A. is a meritocracy Section three, approximately one-two paragraphs: illustrating ways in which the U.S.A. is not a meritocracy Section four, approximately one paragraph: Conclusion of the essay that includes a brief but persuasive restatement of thesis.

Purpose:
The United States of America has long been considered a place where anybody can “make it.” A country without a class system. A nation in which people are judged and rewarded based solely on their merit. The common understanding is that it doesn’t matter where one was born, the community in which she/he was reared, how well off one’s parents are, the school she/he attended, the color of her/his skin, whether one is feminine or masculine, or whether one is a man or a woman. Hard work and determination are what matters. With hard work and determination, anybody can be anything. By extension, success or failure is the result of the individual’s own effort.
At this point in the class, you are well aware of the impact of society on the individual. You’ve studied social structure, culture, socialization, groups, organizations, racial inequality, gender inequality, deviance, and probably most significant, the sociological imagination. This writing assignment will help you understand the reality of America as a meritocracy as you articulate the definition, identify the aspects of American society that are and are not meritocratic, and explain America in terms of a meritocracy. You should come away from this writing assignment being able to differentiate between the myth of American meritocracy and American society. (Learning Outcomes 5.2, 9, and 10).

Discuss what it will take to build a Web architecture, move an existing Website with minimal downtime, and provide a disaster recovery solution to ensure the site is always available.

Due Week 10 and worth 200 points Tony’s Chips has recently been sold to a new independent company. The new company has hired you to manage a project that will move the old Website from an externally hosted solution to an internal one. The company’s leadership is very concerned about redundancy for their site, insisting that a back-up site be available as a failover in case the main site goes down. In addition, they want the site redesigned to allow customers to order products online.
As part of your job, you must complete a 10-to-15 page paper that follows this project through the system development life cycle (SDLC). This assignment will require you to do the following:

Discuss what it will take to build a Web architecture, move an existing Website with minimal downtime, and provide a disaster recovery solution to ensure the site is always available.

The Web architecture should describe and justify operating system choices (i.e., Linux, Apache, MYSQL, PHP, Windows, IIS, SQL, etc.).

Evaluate alternatives to the company self-hosting the site.
Build a Gantt chart using Microsoft Project or equivalent software, showing all tasks associated with implementing the Website.
The chart should include a minimum of five (5) tasks, each with three (3) sub-tasks.
Explain and justify the system architecture you have selected.
Illustrate the system architecture using Visio or equivalent software.
Create a use case that documents the event of a customer ordering a bag of chips from the new Website.
The use case should include a graphical representation using Visio or equivalent software and a text description of the events.
Discuss the support operations that the internally hosted Website will require after implementation.
Explain how you will evaluate the performance of the new site and the success of your project.

The specific Course Learning Outcomes associated with this assignment are:

Design high-level logical system characteristics (user interface design, design of data, and information requirements).
Use contemporary CASE tools in process and data modeling.
Use technology and information resources to research issues in systems analysis and development.
Write clearly and concisely about Systems Analysis and Development topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.

In reflecting on everything the question you should strive to answer is: what ideas/theories/principles do you believe will have the greatest effect on your ethical reasoning going forward. Now, note, this does not assume that your values have changed – in truth studying these theories may have reinforced many of the views you had coming into the class. That said, even if your ideas have solidified rather than changed you should discuss why: what argument, example or theory has strengthened your commitment to certain values and how you will act in the future. You need only discuss one theory or one key concept, but be honest, if there are more then discuss them all briefly. Keep in mind that the theories you discuss you should strive to explain accurately, as that is a key part of your grade on this assignment.

Instructions for Writing: This is your final writing assignment and it is a reflection At this point you have studied multiple theories in a detail (ranging from Bentham & Mill to Kantian and even Contractarian theories). In addition, you have thought about threats to ethics, central concerns related to applying ethics, research on how to make good practical ethical decisions and more.

Writing requirements and grade: think of this as basically a three-paragraph paragraph one should introduce the key idea you’ll discuss and why it’s important to you, paragraph two should explain that idea, and paragraph three should highlight what was new to you about that idea and how that will affect your thinking in the future. What’s key is that you explain the ideas accurately and you give clear and precise examples of how your ideas have changed or been reinforced.
Citation requirements: If you use any direct text or any external sources, be certain to quote that text properly. Also, include references/citations for any works which influenced your thinking – including the course texts. (There are many sources available to help you with citations, as a quick reference, Purdue university’s “Online Writing Lab” or O.W.L website can be handy.)

Assume you are an M-Global field engineer working at the construction site of a nuclear power plant in Jentsen, Missouri. For the past three weeks, your job has been to observe the construction of a water-cooling tower, a large cylindrical structure. As consultants to the plant’s construction firm, you and your M-Global crew were hired to make sure that work proceeds properly and on schedule. As the field engineer, you are supposed to report any problems in writing to your project manager, John Raines, back at your St. Louis office. Then he will contact the construction firm’s office, if necessary. Write a short memo report to Raines. Take the following randomly organized information and present it in a clear, well-organized fashion. If you wish, add information of your own that might fit the context.

■ Three cement pourings for the tower wall were delayed an hour each on April 21 because of light rain.

■ Cement-truck drivers must slow down while driving through the site. Other workers complain about the excessive dust raised by the trucks.

■ Mary Powell, an M-Global safety inspector on the crew, cited 12 workers for not wearing their hard hats.

■ You just heard from one subcontractor, Allis Wire, Inc., that there will be a two-day delay in delivering some steel reinforcing wires that go into the concrete walls. That delay will throw off next week’s schedule. Last Monday’s hard rain and flooding kept everyone home that day.

■ It is probably time once again to get all the subcontractors together to discuss safety at the tower site. Recently, two field hands had bad cuts from machinery.

■ Although there have not been any major thefts at the site, some miscellaneous boards and masonry pieces are missing each day—probably because nearby residents (doing small home projects) think that whatever they find at the site has been discarded. Are additional “No trespassing” signs needed?

■ Construction is only two days behind schedule, despite the problems that have occurred.

Evaluations and assessments are great tools to assess learning growth but are not made to be a definitive conclusion of a student’s learning ability. What are some informal ways you assess your students? Do you agree with the assessment you use for measuring and assessing their learning ability? And why or why not?

Part 1:
Evaluations and assessments are great tools to assess learning growth but are not made to be a definitive conclusion of a student’s learning ability. What are some informal ways you assess your students?
Do you agree with the assessment you use for measuring and assessing their learning ability? And why or why not?
Is alternative schooling such as homeschooling or Trust/Open University concepts better than traditional? How can we combine the real world with learning? Reflect on your own experiences
Part 2:
Financial aid and student loans can be very stressful for several students. Please watch the following video and reflect on how you feel as a student hearing this information and how this makes you feel going into the field of Higher Education. What solutions would you propose to those in charge?

In the text, Paying the Price, author Sara Goldrick-Rab (2016), makes the following statements:
“Decades ago, many Americans got a pretty good deal. With family support, some work, and perhaps a modest Pell Grant, college prices were such that those who did go could usually make ends meet. And they entered a job market where a college degree conferred a bonus, but was not required. There were a fairly large number of good-paying jobs available to people who were not college graduates.”
“In the 1970’s, targeting financial aid to only the poorest individuals made sense – after all, most people didn’t want to attend college, it wasn’t required, and college prices were low enough that the Pell Grant largely covered the bills. Today, that same model fails: the vast majority of the populace wants access to affordable, high-quality public higher education, it is required, and costs are so high that grants and scholarships provide only a meager discount to only a fraction of the students with financial aid.”
What are your thoughts on these ideas? Do you agree, disagree, or find yourself with questions? Do you think that misconceptions surrounding the financial aid system come into play? Is there a specific component that you would like to discuss?

Discuss impact of internal and external revenue-cycle workflows on strategic planning and financial management and identify front-end, middle, and back-end revenue-cycle processes within operational workflows.

In this module, you learned about the internal and external revenue-cycle workflows, and how these are impacted by insurance plan requirements and regulations. You also read about the operational workflows within a healthcare revenue cycle.
This assignment will allow you to assess the impact of internal and external revenue-cycle workflows on strategic planning and financial management and identify front-end, middle, and back-end revenue-cycle processes within operational workflows.
The assignment will help you prepare for sections 4 (Healthcare Reimbursement), 5 (Revenue-Cycle Process), and 6C (Technology and System Impacts) in the course project.
Directions
Create an analysis report to assess an organization’s internal workflows from the context of improving cash flow and financial strength. If you need writing support, access the Online Writing Center through the Academic Support module of your course.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

Patient Registration: Analyze the significance of the steps in the operational workflow for registering a patient prior to a diagnostic procedure. Consider the following questions to guide your response:
Errors Impacting Cash Flow: Analyze the revenue-cycle errors that may occur in internal and external workflows that can impact a healthcare organization’s cash flow and financial strength. Consider the following questions to guide your response:
Prevention of Errors: Explain how the errors you described can be prevented. Consider the following questions to guide your response:
Workflow Improvements: Recommend at least two workflow process improvements across the front-end, middle, and back-end revenue-cycle processes. These workflow improvements must not be directly related to the error-prevention recommendations you provided. Consider the following questions to guide your response:

All the claims in your deliverable should be evidence based. Your citations should be from your independent search for evidence (not from the textbook or module resources) of credible sources and be current within the last five years. You are required to cite a minimum of two sources, at least one of which should be separate from your own research. Refer to the IHP 630 Library Guide located in the Start Here section of the course for additional support.

What does The Black Metropolis suggest is wrong with or “incomplete” about using the ghettoization model to describe Black communities that formed in northern cities? What was the source of African American consumer power, even as most worked in marginalized, low-wage positions?

Step 1: Read Black Metropolis
Step 2: Read Warmth of Other Suns, parts I, II, VI, and Epilogue
Step 3: Watch Isabel Wilkerson – The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration
Step 4: Answer the question

Questions
Watch Isabel Wilkerson – The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration
How does Isabel Wilkerson define the Great Migration? When did it take place?
Isabel Wilkerson equates the Great Migration with other vast movements of refugees from war or famine, where people must “go great distances… to reach safety with the hope that life will be better wherever they land.”Talk about migration due to necessity in terms of Ida Mae, George, and Robert. Did each of them migrate out of necessity? How do their stories differ? How were they similar?
Isabel Wilkerson quotes Black Boy by Richard Wright in which Wright wrote, on arriving in the North: “I had fled one insecurity and embraced another”. What unique challenges did black migrants face in the North? How did these challenges affect the lives of Ida Mae Gladney, George Starling, and Robert Foster?
How did Wikerson’s personal family experience and history influence the writing of The Warmth of Other Suns.
What does The Black Metropolis suggest is wrong with or “incomplete” about using the ghettoization model to describe Black communities that formed in northern cities?
What was the source of African American consumer power, even as most worked in marginalized, low-wage positions?
Media institutions tend to be large national and/or global corporations such as broadcasting companies, newspaper and magazine publishers, film production companies, music and publishing companies, and some governments. What are some historical and contemporary black examples of media institutions you can think of?

(a) Draw an appropriate sketch of the situation with Mercurious's position (along the horizonal) at any time t identied by the function x(t), assuming all the action takes place to the left of the building (i.e., x < 0), and the bomb's vertical position at any time t during its fall is described by the function y(t) ≥ 0. (b) Determine the time it would take for the bomb to hit the ground if it falls under gravity with an acceleration of 10 ms^−2 .

1. Rectilinear motion The evil Professor Mayhem is planning to drop a time-bomb from the top of a 180 m tall building. If the bomb hits the ground it will explode and destroy all of the new Adelaide University City. Even if it doesn't hit the ground, the bomb is set to explode 24 s after its release. The superhero Mercurious is 864 m from the base of the building, at (x, y) = (0, 0), when he sees Professor Mayhem release the bomb. In an instant Mercurious works out that, assuming that t = 0 is when the bomb is released, he needs to run with super speed along a path described by the mathematical equation,
x(t) = t ^3 − 36t^ 2 + Ct + D, in order to catch the bomb before it hits the ground, turn around and deposit it a safe distance from the city, and then turn around again and return before the bomb explodes. (c) Determine the parameters C and D if Mercurious runs and catches the bomb at the base of the building at the exact moment it would have hit the ground (at which point he also reverses direction for the rst time). (d) Determine where Mercurious leaves the bomb (at which point he simultaneously reverses direction a second time). (e) Determine Mercurious's position when the bomb nally explodes. (f) Determine Mercurious's maximum speed over the 24 s period. At what position(s) is he when this occurs?
