Do you think a belief in the justness of the bombing made the civilian loss of life a secondary concern? How did the report make you question the language of accuracy and precision that is used to talk about aerial bombardment?

Go to the War in Raqqa report and follow these steps:
Scroll through the introduction, paying careful attention to the “rhetoric” used about the bombing and the “reality of the bombing”
When you reach the bottom of the page, click on one of the options: Experience Stories, Explore Cases, or See People and explore. You may want to do an in-depth exploration of one of the three, or check out a few stories, cases, and people. Please note that multimedia report contains upsetting content about death and destruction.
After you have thoroughly explored War in Raqqa, write a 500-word response, addressing the following questions:
How was the language of saving lives used to justify the bombing and cover up civilian deaths?
Do you think a belief in the justness of the bombing made the civilian loss of life a secondary concern?
How did the report make you question the language of accuracy and precision that is used to talk about aerial bombardment?
What struck you most about the report? Did it change what you thought about humanitarian militarism
total respond to a fictional peer response similar to yours with follow-up questions or by telling them how their response helped you understand the effects of humanitarian militarism.

Three rules of risk management proposed by Mehr and Hedges are discussed in this chapter. List these rules and explain the implications of each in determining what should be done about individual exposures facing a business firm.
Three rules of risk management proposed by Mehr and Hedges are:
1. Do not risk more than you can afford to lose: If one takes risk more than he can afford to lose, and outcome is unfavorable, that person can even become bankrupt. A person should take proper insurance and devise strategy to mitigate risk.
2. Do not risk a lot for a little: A person takes risk in anticipation of high return. Higher the risk, higher the expected return. The risk return ratio should be high. If one takes risk a lot for little, he is making mistake.
Consider the odd: One should understand the likelihood and severity of possible losses. One should assess how much he may lose and what is the likelihood of loss.

In 2024, Hopyard Lumber changed its inventory method from LIFO to FIFO. Inventory at the end of 2023 of $127,000 would have been $145,000 if FIFO had been used. Inventory at the end of 2024 is $162,000 using the new FIFO method but would have been $151,000 if the company had continued to use LIFO. Describe the steps Hopyard should take to report this change. What is the effect of the change on 2024 cost of goods sold?

Identify risk factors for childhood obesity.

Health Risks, Disasters, and Nursing Topic 1: Child and Adolescent Health Risks As you discovered in this week’s lectures and readings, several populations face multiple health risks across their lifespan. Children and adolescents are a population that is at a higher health risk for obesity. A national movement is underway to reduce risk factors for developing obesity in children. Part of this movement is the “Let’s Move!” campaign, which is a comprehensive and coordinated initiative to prevent childhood obesity. The initiative emphasizes four primary components: healthy schools, access to affordable and healthy food, raising children’s physical activity levels, and empowering families to make healthy choices. Review Healthy People 2020: Identify risk factors for childhood obesity. Do the risk factors differ and how do they differ between children and adolescents? Identify objectives that will combat childhood and adolescent obesity. Provide suggestions on how community health nurses can contribute to these national health objectives and accomplish the goal of decreasing obesity among this population.

She was educated at one of the best nursing programs in a large urban city and she prides herself on being fair and equal to all her patients. Becoming a little frustrated Jenny asked the patient to speak slower and clearer because she does not understand Mexican very well. The patient becomes visibly upset and becomes very short with his answers. When the session is over the patient leaves the room, angrily speaking to himself in Spanish. Jenny didn?t understand why the patient was angry, and from that point on avoided working with Hispanic patients. What do you think happened here?

A retail store manager uses time series models to understand shopping trends. Time series models are particularly useful to track variables such as revenues, costs, and profits over time. Time series models help evaluate performance and make predictions. Review the scatter plot of the store’s sales from 2010 through 2021 to answer the questions. You may also review the annual sales data and chart in Excel, if desired. Time series decomposition seeks to separate the time series (Y) into 4 components: trend (T), cycle (C), seasonal (S), and irregular (I). What is the difference between these components?

I’m working on a business question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn. The model can be additive or multiplicative. When do you use each?Review the scatter plot of the exponential trend of the time series data. Do you observe a trend? If so, what type of trend do you observe? What predictions might you make about the store’s annual sales over the next few years?

what punishment do you think should be given to family violence offenders?  Should partner abusers, child abusers, and elderly abusers be addressed differently?

Addressing family violence is a complex issue.  The criminal justice system traditionally focused on enforcing the law and punishing the criminal.  For so many years this was the only objective.  Fortunately, in recent years there has been more attention on helping victims,  But in reading Chapter 9, you can see that this too can be complicated.  There are so many things to consider.  One of the most frequent tools used in family violence cases is removing the aggressor, at least temporarily, from the home.  This can result in additional strain on the family.  Abused children are also removed from the home, but often are eventually returned.  Elderly victims are sometimes removed from their lifelong residences and placed in care facilities.  There are unintended consequences regarding most actions taken to protect victims.  Chapter 9 focuses on these issues.  So, based on your reading of this chapter, and on your opinions, what punishment do you think should be given to family violence offenders?  Should partner abusers, child abusers, and elderly abusers be addressed differently?
